Just some scary observations I had recently… When I was much younger, around 7 or so, (I’m now 42 – you do the math!), everything was much simpler and easier to understand… Cigarettes cost $0.50 per pack, a single slice of pizza was about the same, petrol or gasoline, (depending on where your from), was about $1.00 a gallon (or LESS!), and the price of oil was maybe $25.00 a barrel at most. Shopping at the supermarket was cheap – you could feed a family of four with about $50.00 per week if not less.
Gross obesity was virtually unknown as were most of the “disorders” we are currently bombarded with through television commercials which urge us to “see a doctor and ask about so-and-so pills, medication, therapy, etc.
Well, you all know what we’re paying these days for what used to be the simplest things… Cigarettes are over $8.00 per pack, a slice of pizza is about $2.00 if not more, petrol / gasoline is quickly reaching $5.00 a gallon, oil has skyrocketed way over $100.00 a barrel, (I think you can see where I’m going with this…). There is also now a global grain shortage – rice, wheat, barley, corn, etc… which has raised the prices of beer and alcohol considerably – STOP THIS HORROR!!!
I decided to average out the percentage of rising costs, (which came to about a little over 7.5% per year over thirty years), and figured what we and our children would be paying at the end of the next thirty or-so years to come. By the year 2040, (and I hope I’m long gone by then – LOL!), I have estimated the following…
Cigarettes, if still legal, will be about $120.00 per pack, if not more.
A slice of pizza will be over $15.00 if the grain shortage continues
Petrol / gasoline will be about $125.00 per gallon
A barrel of oil will be about $2,700.00
My precious beer will be about $180.00 for a 6-pack of 12oz bottles!!!
Feeding a family of four will cost well over $11,000 per week
I didn’t even try to figure out basic necessities like electricity, gas, telephone, water, etc.
On top of all that and more, just add in most people being obese and/or medicated – our little, blue, trailer-park of a planet will be ripe for the picking by hostile governments or maybe even otherworldly aliens!
We’re all doomed! Doomed I tell you! DOOMED!!!
The U.S. government can see me shit or piss in my own bathroom with their high-tech satellites, but they can’t find Osama bin-Laden! They can spend well over $6,000,000,000,000, (yes that’s Trillion!), on a war they can not win, yet allow our wounded veterans to slowly starve to death on our city streets, (amongst the other horrors and injustices they must endure), and let our children fall so far behind educationally that some third-world countries can actually compete for outsourcing jobs.
The polar ice caps are melting at an alarming rate, our blessed rainforests are being depleted just as quickly, many species of earth’s inhabitants are extinct or close to it, including humans, (please note all the horrible bacteria’s, diseases, plagues and viruses that have reared their ugly heads – either again, or for the first time during the last three decades… AIDS; hundreds of types of Cancers; Cholera; Ebola; that nasty, “flesh-eating” thing; Herpes; Measles; Salmonella; Tuberculosis; West Nile and-so-on-and-so-forth; etc.). Our greatest pollinating resources – namely Bees and Bats are dying off by the millions – causing these major food shortages. NOT to mention all the recent natural disasters our over-populated planet has endured in recent years: Droughts, Earthquakes; Floods; Cyclones/Hurricanes/Typhoons; Mudslides; Tornadoes; Tidal Waves/Tsunamis; Volcanic Eruptions; Wild Fires as well as the mass genocide of entire populaces, and NOW we’ve only just begun to “go green”!
The United States is the only country in the free world WITHOUT universal healthcare! Sure; all the citizens in other countries pay higher taxes; up to 50%). Would that not be worth the extra money you would pay in taxes knowing that no matter what happens; you and your loved ones would be well taken care of?
Anyway; I am done ranting and raving. I hope I have given you some food for thought – that may just be ALL you get to eat before you slowly die a horrible and painful death because of the US government.
